Where to go on a trip to North Carolina

When people think about The Carolinas, they think about Myrtle Beach or Charleston, but North Carolina has a lot to offer as well! The twelfth official state in the country, and home to dozens of Native American communities for hundreds of years before that: there’s a lot of history in this state. On top of that, beautiful landscapes, creative residents, and a range from oceans to deep mountains keep this state exciting and new at every turn. Here are some of the top destinations that will make you want to stay forever!
Boone
If you’re looking at Charlotte houses for sale and think most of North Carolina is the beach and grasslands, you’ll be surprised by Boone. This mountain-dwelling city is like a fantasy escape from the rest of the state. Beautiful views, gorgeous architecture, and enough snow to appease anyone create this incredible city. You can learn about the history of gold mining (and even pan for some gold of your own!) or enjoy some serene and quiet fishing in some of the most beautiful rivers in the country. Although some of the roads may get a little hairy if you’re not used to mountain driving, as a whole, this city will make you want to call North Carolina your home.
The Outer Banks
This string of islands that ensnare the North Carolina coast is some of the most beautiful vacationing spots on Earth. Endless gorgeous glassy silver waves, beautiful white sand, and a community as laid back as the tide will make you want to settle into the beach with a drink in hand. Although this area is hit by at least one hurricane a year, that doesn’t mean you can’t get your fun in before the storms hit. Beachy fun shops and beautiful classic lighthouses offer something that no other state can: history, charm, and enough ghost stories to haunt you for life.
New Bern
Settled along the coastline, New Bern is a piece of history in the middle of a rapidly progressing state. Classic town squares, beautiful and charming antique shops, and a replica of the state’s original capital give this city a magical feeling. This city may have the magic of the past, but it’s helped form many America with the inventions that have come out of it. Pepsi, the cola fountain drink, was invented in New Bern, and bottling technology was revolutionary. It’s a city steeped in history that’s ready to keep making steps forward into the future.
Wilmington
This city may excite and thrill the most devoted of movie buffs. A gem in North Carolina, just off the shore, Wilmington is home to the state’s biggest filming houses. This city was where crews filmed the popular movie, the Conjuring; it’s also where parts of Iron Man 3 and Weekend At Bernie’s were filmed. This city has endless filming magic in it without the high prices and crowds of California. Although you wouldn’t know it by its simple name, this city has something for everyone and can offer endless entertainment.
